New Delhi, December 29: Over 100 flights faced delays, and a few were canceled at the Indira Gandhi International Airport in Delhi on Friday due to low visibility caused by fog.
Airlines have advised passengers to check the status of their flights on the respective airline websites before heading to the airport. Passengers who arrived at the airport unaware of the delays were observed sitting on the floors, awaiting updates from the airlines. Fakrool, a native of Rampur in Uttar Pradesh, expressed dissatisfaction, stating, “I have been waiting for 12 hours at T-3 in the cold to catch a flight to Sharjah. The airline made no arrangements for passengers in case of delay in such weather.”
Airport sources reported that visibility on Friday dropped to 150 meters, considered moderate for flight operations. No diversions were reported until 8 am on Friday, but delays occurred due to the challenging weather conditions.
Kuldeep Singh, a passenger waiting with his family at IGI airport, shared, “I have a flight to Toronto, and it is delayed. I arrived at the airport in the morning from Punjab, and I am waiting for the update from the airline.” Long queues of passengers were also observed at the entry gates of the Terminal.
