J&k, 06 Jan : Union Home Minister Amit Shah is scheduled to visit Jammu and Kashmir on January 9 for a comprehensive security review in the aftermath of the Poonch terror attack. The visit follows a recent incident in Poonch, where heavily armed terrorists ambushed two Army vehicles, resulting in the loss of four soldiers’ lives and injuries to two others.
Amit Shah’s visit is also prompted by ongoing tensions in the region, particularly concerning the deaths of three civilians in Poonch following the attack. During his stay, the Home Minister plans to assess the security situation in the Jammu region, visiting forward areas to oversee anti-terror operations.
As part of his itinerary, Amit Shah is expected to preside over a security review meeting in Jammu. Additionally, he may convene a meeting with top BJP leaders in Jammu and Kashmir. Emphasizing the need for improved coordination among the police, Army, and CRPF to bolster security, Shah previously chaired a security review meeting on January 2. Local intelligence enhancement was also a key focus during that session.
It’s worth noting that earlier, Defence Minister Rajnath Singh and Army chief General Manoj Pande visited Jammu in solidarity with the armed forces, with Singh likening every soldier to a family member.
