New Delhi, Jan 15 : Prime Minister Narendra Modi, through a virtual ceremony on Monday, disbursed the first instalment of Rs 540 crore to one lakh beneficiaries as part of a rural housing scheme under the Pradhan Mantri Janjati Adivasi Nyaya Maha Abhiyan (PM-JANMAN).
Engaging with some PM-JANMAN beneficiaries during the event, Modi listened to their experiences and positive changes in their lives after availing government schemes. The beneficiaries highlighted improvements in accessing amenities such as cooking gas connections, electricity, piped water, and housing.
Modi emphasized the government’s commitment to ensure that no one is left out of its welfare schemes, underscoring the inclusive nature of their initiatives.
The released Rs 540 crore constitutes the first instalment for beneficiaries of the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana-Gramin, a key component of PM-JANMAN. Launched on November 15, PM-JANMAN is dedicated to the socio-economic welfare of Particularly Vulnerable Tribal Groups (PVTGs).
With an approximate budget of Rs 24,000 crore, PM-JANMAN targets 11 critical interventions across nine ministries. The initiative aims to enhance the socio-economic conditions of PVTGs by providing essential facilities such as secure housing, clean drinking water, sanitation, improved access to education, health, nutrition, electricity, road and telecom connectivity, and sustainable livelihood opportunities to PVTG households and habitations.
