New Delhi, Jan 16 : AAP Leader Raghav Chadha predicts a sweeping victory for the INDIA bloc in the upcoming Chandigarh municipal polls, marking a significant precursor to the 2024 Lok Sabha elections. The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) and the Congress, both members of the INDIA bloc, solidified their alliance on Monday for the mayoral polls scheduled for January 18 in the Union Territory.
Addressing a press conference in New Delhi, Chadha expressed confidence in the INDIA bloc’s ability to outperform the BJP in the Chandigarh elections. He emphasized that these municipal polls would serve as a pivotal battleground between the BJP and the INDIA bloc, setting the stage for the tone of the 2024 Lok Sabha elections.
According to the alliance agreement for the mayoral elections, AAP will contend for the mayor’s seat, while the Congress will actively participate in the races for senior deputy mayor and deputy mayor positions. The INDIA bloc, a coalition of opposition parties, including the Congress, AAP, TMC, and the Samajwadi Party, was formed with the aim of challenging the BJP’s dominance in the upcoming Lok Sabha elections.
