SRINAGAR: The Jammu and Kashmir Apni Party President, Syed Mohammad Altaf Bukhari, on Thursday stated that he does not approach Jamaat-e-Islami leaders for his personal vote bank.
Addressing a gathering at South Kashmir’s Shopian district, Bukhari said that he approaches senior people just to fight against the growing drug menace, which has become a serious concern in Jammu and Kashmir now.
He said with a sense of sincerity, “Allah, I only do it for the safeguard of the younger generation. I never approach anyone for my vote bank.”
In an emotional speech, Bukhari said that when someone approaches me for the sake of their son’s release, who in any angle are behind bars, I feel very disheartened. Therefore, only our elders can show them the right path in saving the younger generation from these drugs.
He stated that those who pick up arms have destroyed their own lives, but with drugs, they can not only damage themselves but the whole family and society.
Bukhari continued by saying that drugs have affected everyone’s lives, including our daughters and sons. Through our religion, they can only be saved, and for that, our senior Jamaat-e-Islami leaders will play an important role. (Agencies)
