Patna, February 23 : The Bihar Assembly is set to conduct the election for the Deputy Speaker’s position on Friday following the resignation of JD(U) leader Maheshwar Hazari on Wednesday.
Hazari, a second-term MLA representing the reserved Kalyanpur assembly constituency, stepped down from the deputy speaker’s role, which he had held since March 2021. Speaker Nand Kishor Yadav informed the House on Wednesday about the impending election to fill the vacant post, scheduled for Friday.
Taking a significant step forward, senior JD(U) leader Narendra Narayan Yadav submitted his nomination papers on Thursday for the election to the deputy Speaker’s position in the Bihar assembly. Yadav formalized his candidacy at the Vidhan Sabha secretariat, with Chief Minister Nitish Kumar, Deputy CMs Samrat Choudhary, and Vijay Kumar Sinha, among other dignitaries, present during the nomination process.
