New Delhi : Prime Minister Narendra Modi is set to virtually inaugurate two significant First Mile Connectivity Projects (FMC) of Northern Coalfields Limited (NCL) on Thursday. Valued at Rs 1393.69 Crore, these projects, led by NCL (a subsidiary of Coal India Limited under the Ministry of Coal), mark a crucial advancement in the mechanized coal evacuation process, contributing to reduced carbon emissions, according to a statement from the Coal Ministry.
The projects include the Jayant OCP CHP-SILO and the Dudhichua OCP CHP-SILO. The Jayant OCP CHP-SILO, with a capacity of 15 Million Tonnes Per Annum (MTPA), was developed with an investment of Rs 723.50 Crore. Similarly, the Dudhichua OCP CHP-SILO, with a capacity of 10 MTPA, was constructed with an investment of Rs 670.19 Crore.
These inaugurated projects are expected to bring about increased efficiency and sustainability in coal evacuation, reducing transportation time and costs, thereby enhancing overall productivity and profitability. By optimizing logistics and minimizing carbon emissions, the initiatives contribute to a more environmentally conscious approach to coal dispatch and distribution.
The inauguration underlines the Ministry of Coal’s dedication to infrastructure development and sustainable initiatives, supporting a greener future and India’s energy security. Recently, PM Modi also inaugurated three crucial First Mile Connectivity Projects of South Eastern Coalfields Limited (SECL) in Chhattisgarh, showcasing the government’s commitment to advancing coal infrastructure.
