New Delhi, March 5 : Prime Minister Narendra Modi extended his congratulations to Shehbaz Sharif on Tuesday, as Sharif took the oath of office as the Prime Minister of Pakistan for the second time. Sharif’s swearing-in comes nearly a month after the February 8 elections, which were marked by allegations of vote rigging and inconclusiveness. Despite his Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) party securing the second position in the elections, independent candidates supported by Imran Khan’s Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) emerged with the most seats but fell short of a parliamentary majority. Modi took to X to convey his felicitations, stating, “Congratulations to @CMShehbaz on being sworn in as the Prime Minister of Pakistan.”
