New Delhi, March 13: Priyanka Gandhi Vadra, a leader of the Congress party, expressed solidarity with the residents of Ladakh in their demand for full statehood, urging the government to heed the voice of the people.
The Congress general secretary shared a video on social media platform X showcasing Ladakhi individuals fasting for eight consecutive days to press for full statehood.
In a Hindi post on X, Gandhi stated, “The BJP had pledged full statehood to the people of Ladakh but failed to fulfill it. Amidst increasing Chinese occupation and broken promises from the BJP government, the trust of the people of Ladakh is waning.”
Highlighting the ongoing protest, Gandhi emphasized that Ladakh’s educationist and environmental activist, Sonam Wangchuk, along with numerous others, has been fasting for eight days in sub-zero temperatures.
“The people of Ladakh are now demanding full statehood and security under the 6th Schedule, which is the government’s responsibility to fulfill,” she asserted.
Gandhi called upon the government to abandon its obstinacy and listen to the grievances of the people of Ladakh.
