Drop in Nighttime Temperatures Across Jammu and Kashmir; Gulmarg Registers -5.2°C

Srinagar, March 15: With a generally dry weather forecast until March 20, most areas experienced a decrease in nighttime temperatures, with Gulmarg registering -5.2°C on Friday.

According to a meteorological department official, Srinagar recorded a minimum temperature of 1.7°C, a decrease from the previous night’s 4.4°C, marking a deviation of 2.0°C below the normal temperature for this time of the year in the summer capital of Jammu and Kashmir.

Qazigund witnessed a minimum temperature of 2.2°C, compared to 1.8°C the previous night, representing a deviation of 0.1°C below the usual temperature for the gateway town of Kashmir.

Pahalgam recorded a low of -3.1°C, down from -1.3°C the previous night, marking a deviation of 1.9°C below normal for the renowned resort in south Kashmir.

Similarly, Kokernag saw a minimum temperature of 2.3°C, compared to 1.3°C the previous night, with a deviation of 0.2°C below normal.

Kupwara town experienced a low of 0.6°C, down from 1.2°C the previous night, marking a deviation of 1.7°C below normal temperatures.

Gulmarg reported a low of -5.2°C, a slight decrease from the previous night’s -4.8°C, with temperatures below normal by 1.9°C for the world-famous skiing resort in north Kashmir’s Baramulla district.

In Jammu, the minimum temperature was recorded at 10.5°C, representing a deviation of 3.5°C below normal for the winter capital of J&K.

Banihal registered a low of 3.2°C, Batote 5.6°C, and Bhaderwah 2.7°C, the official added.

While dry weather is expected until March 20, the weatherman forecasted a fresh spell of rain and snow in J&K from March 24 onwards.
