NEW DELHI, Mar 16: Prime Minister Narendra Modi celebrated the achievement of over one crore households registering for the rooftop solar scheme ‘PM-Surya Ghar: Muft Bijli Yojana’ on March 16, hailing it as “outstanding news.”
“Registrations have been pouring in from all corners of the nation. States like Assam, Bihar, Gujarat, Maharashtra, Odisha, Tamil Nadu, and Uttar Pradesh have each witnessed over 5 lakh registrations,” he shared in a post on ‘X.’
This initiative pledges significant reductions in electricity expenses for households while ensuring energy production. It’s set to promote a Lifestyle for Environment (LiFE) on a large scale, contributing to a better planet.
Prime Minister Modi urged those who haven’t registered yet to do so promptly, emphasizing the substantial reductions in electricity expenses and the positive impact on energy production.
“It’s poised to promote Lifestyle for Environment (LiFE) on a grand scale, thereby contributing to a better planet,” he stated.
Last month, the Union Cabinet, chaired by the Prime Minister, approved the scheme with a total outlay of ₹75,021 crore. This initiative aims to install rooftop solar panels and provide free electricity up to 300 units every month for one crore households.
