Vadodara, Mar 19 – In preparation for the upcoming Lok Sabha elections, Gujarat Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) MLA Ketan Inamdar tendered his resignation from the state assembly on Tuesday.
Inamdar, who has served three terms as MLA from the Savli seat in Vadodara district, submitted his resignation to legislative assembly speaker Shankar Chaudhary.
In his resignation letter, Inamdar cited his “inner voice” as the reason for stepping down, without providing further explanation.
Initially elected as an independent candidate in the 2012 assembly election, Inamdar later joined the BJP and secured victory in 2017 and 2022.
This isn’t the first time Inamdar has announced his resignation as an MLA. In January 2020, he made a similar announcement, which was not accepted by the speaker.
Inamdar previously expressed frustration with the lack of attention from senior government officials and ministers towards him and his constituency. He suggested that many MLAs within the BJP shared his sentiments.
The BJP currently holds 156 out of the total 182 seats in the Gujarat assembly.
All 26 Lok Sabha seats in Gujarat are set to undergo polling in a single phase on May 7, with vote counting scheduled for June 4.
