New Delhi: On Wednesday, Union Minister Kiren Rijiju was appointed to take charge of the Ministry of Food Processing Industries, as per a notification from the Rashtrapati Bhavan. This additional responsibility was assigned to him by President Droupadi Murmu following the resignation of Pashupati Kumar Paras from the Union Council of Ministers.
President Murmu promptly accepted Paras’s resignation, effective immediately, and assigned Cabinet Minister Kiren Rijiju to lead the Ministry of Food Processing Industries. This new responsibility is in addition to Rijiju’s existing portfolio as the Minister of Earth Sciences.
