SRINAGAR, March 22: National Conference vice president Omar Abdullah criticized the arrest of Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal, labeling it as a “blot” on democracy and indicative of the ruling party’s “remarkable degree of nervousness.”

The former Jammu and Kashmir chief minister expressed solidarity with Kejriwal and his Aam Aadmi Party (AAP).

“In such a democracy. Despite claims of a landslide victory, the ruling administration is displaying a significant level of anxiety. The arrest of an opposition CM by a compliant central agency shortly after the announcement of general elections is a stain on democracy,” Abdullah stated in a post on X.

Kejriwal, who also serves as the national convenor and chief of the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP), was arrested on Thursday night by the Enforcement Directorate in connection with a money laundering case linked to alleged irregularities in the scrapped Delhi excise policy 2021-22.
