New Delhi, Mar 27: Prime Minister Narendra Modi has vowed to ensure that funds allegedly embezzled from impoverished individuals in West Bengal and confiscated by the Enforcement Directorate are returned to their rightful owners. This commitment was conveyed by Mr. Modi during a recent telephone conversation with Amrita Roy, a member of the erstwhile royalty and BJP candidate contesting against TMC’s Mahua Moitra in the Krishnanagar Lok Sabha constituency.

According to BJP leaders, Prime Minister Modi assured Roy, affectionately referred to as ‘Rajmata,’ that he is actively exploring legal avenues to facilitate the restitution of ill-gotten gains to the underprivileged populace. Emphasizing the BJP’s unwavering stance against corruption, Mr. Modi lamented the collusive efforts of corrupt individuals to shield each other from accountability.

Expressing optimism about the upcoming elections in West Bengal, Prime Minister Modi projected a wave of “Parivartan” (change) sweeping across the state. The BJP has prominently spotlighted allegations of corruption against leaders of the ruling Trinamool Congress as a key aspect of its campaign strategy. Instances such as the arrest of former minister Partha Chatterjee and the recovery of substantial sums of money and assets have been leveraged by the BJP to challenge its political adversaries.

In the 2019 Lok Sabha elections, the BJP secured victory in 18 out of the 42 parliamentary constituencies in West Bengal, marking a significant electoral breakthrough. With eyes set on further gains, the party aims to consolidate its position in the state during the upcoming polls.
