Srinagar, Mar 27: In a recent development, police in Jammu and Kashmir’s Baramulla district arrested three individuals suspected of drug peddling. Among them was a resident of West Bengal. The arrests were made following the recovery of contraband substances from their possession.
According to police reports, the first arrest took place at a checkpoint located at Kanispora Chowk in Baramulla. During the interception, the authorities discovered approximately 20 grams of a brown sugar-like substance in the possession of Sheikh Hashmat, who hails from Malda, West Bengal, and is presently residing in Kanispora.
Additionally, at another checkpoint established at Hardu Shoora Kunzer, two individuals identified as Nazir Ahmad Mir from Chukar Pattan and Riyaz Ahmad Mir from Ratnipora Tangmarg were intercepted by a police team. Upon searching them, approximately 105 grams of a substance resembling Charas were seized from their possession. Both suspects were promptly arrested and taken into custody.
Following the arrests, cases under relevant sections of the law were registered at police stations in Baramulla and Kunzer, and investigations have been launched into the matter.
