Srinagar, Mar 27 : The Meteorological Department (MeT) has forecasted cloudy weather with light rain and snow over higher reaches for March 28 in Jammu and Kashmir, with further predictions of increased rainfall on March 29 and 30. The weather center in Srinagar cautioned against potential disruptions to road transport, especially around crucial mountain passes, due to two consecutive weather systems expected to bring rainfall to the region starting Thursday.
The Director of the meteorological center highlighted that Thursday would also witness cloudy weather with light rain and snow over higher reaches, while more intense wet weather is anticipated on Friday and Saturday. Ahmad emphasized that from March 29 evening to March 30 night, there is an expectation of light to moderate rain/snow over most places, accompanied by thunderstorms, lightning, and a possibility of hailstorm and gusty winds until March 30.
In light of the forecast, the MeT issued an advisory for travelers and farmers, urging them to take necessary precautions. Travelers and tourists were advised to plan their journeys, especially on March 30, considering potential disruptions in surface transportation over important passes. Additionally, farmers were advised to suspend farm operations for the next four days, with a warning about the possibility of landslides, mudslides, and shooting stones during this period.
