Srinagar, Mar 27: A meeting chaired by District Election Officer (DEO) Srinagar, Bilal Mohiuddin Bhat, convened at the DC Office, focused on assessing preparations for the upcoming Lok Sabha polls for the 02-Srinagar parliamentary constituency.
An official statement released after the meeting stated that the DEO conducted a thorough review with all Assistant Returning Officers (AROs) regarding arrangements at polling stations, strong rooms, and counting centers in Srinagar. Additionally, the progress of the ongoing Systematic Voters’ Education and Electoral Participation Program (SVEEP) campaign in the district was assessed.
During the meeting, emphasis was placed on ensuring that all 929 designated polling stations are equipped with the requisite Assured Minimum Facilities (AMF) and necessary welfare measures are in place for polling staff as per Election Commission of India (ECI) guidelines. The DEO instructed officials to develop a comprehensive action plan well in advance to ensure the welfare of polling staff.
Furthermore, the DEO urged the Nodal Officer for SVEEP and AMF to intensify awareness campaigns aimed at encouraging young voters to maximize voter turnout.
The DEO directed AROs and officials from various departments including R&B, PDD, PHE, and others to collaborate closely to ensure timely completion of all assigned tasks related to the conduct of the Lok Sabha Polls-2024.
