Srinagar, Apr 01: Officials reported an increase in night temperatures across most parts of Jammu and Kashmir on Monday.
According to a meteorological department official in Srinagar, the minimum temperature in the city was recorded at 6.4°C, compared to 4.8°C the previous night. This rise in temperature is considered normal for the summer capital of Jammu and Kashmir during this time of the year.
Qazigund, the gateway town of Kashmir, recorded a minimum temperature of 7.2°C, which is 2.1°C above normal. Similarly, Kokernag recorded a minimum temperature of 6.8°C, indicating an increase of 1.7°C above normal.
In Pahalgam, a famous resort in south Kashmir, the minimum temperature was recorded at 0.7°C, which is 1.0°C below normal. Meanwhile, Kupwara town experienced a minimum temperature of 3.5°C, marking a decrease of 1.7°C below normal.
Gulmarg, renowned for its skiing activities, recorded a low of minus 1.6°C, slightly below normal by 0.8°C.
In Jammu, the minimum temperature was recorded at 15.2°C, indicating a decrease of 1.9°C below normal for the winter capital of Jammu and Kashmir.
Further forecasts suggest generally dry weather until April 5, with the exception of April 3, when fairly widespread rain is expected across the region.
