New Delhi , April 2 : Atishi, a senior AAP leader and Delhi minister, made a startling claim during a press conference, alleging that a close associate warned her of potential arrest by the Enforcement Directorate if she didn’t join the BJP within a month. She further asserted that this threat extended to three other Aam Aadmi Party leaders: Delhi Minister Saurabh Bharadwaj, MLA Durgesh Pathak, and Rajya Sabha MP Raghav Chadha. Atishi disclosed that she had been informed about potential raids by the ED at her residence and those of her relatives in the near future.
Atishi’s revelations came amidst heightened political tensions, with the BJP allegedly rattled by the recent success of the INDIA bloc’s Ramlila Maidan rally. Atishi emphasized that the BJP’s strategy of targeting Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal for arrest, as witnessed with his recent detention by the ED on March 21, did not deter the AAP’s resilience.
Arvind Kejriwal, facing allegations related to a money laundering case linked to his government’s excise policy, was remanded to judicial custody until April 15 following his arrest. The AAP has accused the BJP of attempting to destabilize the Delhi government by enticing its legislators to defect, with Kirari MLA Rituraj Jha claiming he was offered Rs 25 crore to join the saffron party.
