Srinagar, Apr 2: Most parts of Jammu and Kashmir witnessed a drop in night temperatures, settling below normal levels on Tuesday, according to officials. The meteorological department reported that Srinagar recorded a minimum temperature of 4.8°C, down from 6.4°C the previous night, marking a deviation of 1.6°C below normal for this time of the year in the summer capital.

Qazigund, the gateway town of Kashmir, recorded a minimum temperature of 4.8°C, compared to 7.2°C the previous night, indicating a deviation of 0.3°C below normal. Pahalgam, a famous resort in south Kashmir, recorded a low of 0.5°C, down from 0.7°C the previous night, marking a deviation of 1.2°C below normal.

However, Kokernag in south Kashmir recorded a minimum temperature of 5.6°C, slightly above the previous night’s 6.8°C, indicating a deviation of 0.5°C above normal. Kupwara town registered a low of 3.6°C, down from 3.5°C the previous night, marking a deviation of 1.6°C below normal.

Contrarily, Gulmarg, the renowned skiing resort in north Kashmir’s Baramulla district, recorded a low of 1.1°C, significantly above the previous night’s minus 1.6°C, marking a deviation of 1.2°C above normal.

Meanwhile, Jammu recorded a minimum temperature of 15.7°C, 1.4°C below normal for the winter capital of J&K. Banihal, Batote, and Bhaderwah recorded lows of 7.2°C, 10.0°C, and 7.2°C respectively.

Looking ahead, the meteorological department forecast generally dry weather until April 5, except for April 3 when fairly widespread rain has been predicted.
