Kashmir Witnesses Rise in Night Temperature Amid Isolated Rain Forecast

Srinagar, April 5: With forecasts predicting isolated light rain and thunderstorms over the next 24 hours followed by dry weather, night temperatures saw an uptick across most places in Jammu and Kashmir on Friday.

According to a meteorological department official, Srinagar registered a minimum temperature of 7.4°C, up from 7.2°C the previous night, marking a deviation of 1.0°C above normal for this time of the year. Similarly, Qazigund recorded a minimum of 6.4°C, compared to 7.4°C previously, reflecting a deviation of 1.3°C above normal.

Pahalgam experienced a low of 4.7°C, rising from 2.8°C the night before, signaling a deviation of 3.0°C above normal for the renowned south Kashmir resort. Kokernag, also in south Kashmir, noted a minimum of 1.1°C, contrasting with 6.3°C previously, exhibiting a deviation of 1.2°C above normal.

Meanwhile, Kupwara recorded a low of 5.4°C, slightly above the 4.9°C registered the previous night, with a deviation of 0.2°C above normal. In Gulmarg, the minimum temperature stood at 0.0°C, up from minus 1.0°C, indicating a deviation of 0.8°C above normal for the iconic skiing resort in north Kashmir’s Baramulla district.

Jammu witnessed a minimum temperature of 16.2°C, marking a deviation of 0.9°C above normal for the winter capital of J&K. Other regions like Banihal, Batote, and Bhaderwah recorded minimums of 7.2°C, 11.4°C, and 8.8°C, respectively.

Looking ahead, the forecast indicates partly cloudy weather with the possibility of light rain or snow at isolated places. From April 6-10, generally dry weather is anticipated, followed by generally cloudy conditions with light rain or snow at isolated places from April 11-12. Lastly, from April 13-15, generally cloudy skies with intermittent light rain or snow at numerous places are expected.
