Dry Weather Predicted in J&K Until April 10, Followed by Light to Intermittent Rains

Srinagar, April 6: The meteorological department has forecast generally dry weather in Jammu and Kashmir until April 10, although there has been a drop in night temperatures at most places except Gulmarg and Jammu on Saturday.

According to a meteorological department official, weather on April 11-12 is likely to be generally cloudy with the possibility of light rain or snow at isolated places. From April 13-15, generally cloudy weather is expected with intermittent light rain or snow at many places.

Regarding the temperature, the official stated that Srinagar recorded a minimum of 4.5°C compared to 7.4°C on the previous night, which is 2.4°C below normal for this time of the year in the summer capital of Jammu and Kashmir.

Qazigund, the gateway town of Kashmir, recorded a minimum of 2.5°C against 6.4°C on the previous night, marking a 3.2°C drop below normal. Pahalgam, the famous resort in south Kashmir, recorded a low of 2.7°C compared to 4.7°C on the previous night, which was 3.1°C below normal.

In Kokernag, also in south Kashmir, the minimum temperature was 3.8°C against 1.1°C on the previous night, registering a deviation of 1.6°C below normal. Similarly, Kupwara town recorded a low of 2.4°C against 5.4°C on the previous night, marking a deviation of 2.8°C below normal.

Gulmarg, the world-famous skiing resort in north Kashmir’s Baramulla district, recorded a low of 1.0°C compared to 0.0°C on the previous night, which was 0.5°C above normal.

Meanwhile, Jammu recorded a minimum temperature of 17.1°C, which was 0.7°C below normal for the winter capital of Jammu and Kashmir. Banihal recorded a low of 5.8°C, Batote 8.5°C, and Bhaderwah 4.8°C, the official added.
