New Delhi, Apr 8 : In anticipation of the Lok Sabha elections, the AAP initiated a “Jail ka Jawab Vote Se” campaign on Monday to rally public support for the party and Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal, who is presently incarcerated in Tihar jail.
During a press briefing, AAP Rajya Sabha MP Sandeep Pathak stated, “Kejriwal’s arrest is part of a larger conspiracy. This marks the first instance of a sitting chief minister being detained during the Lok Sabha polls. We are launching the campaign ‘Jail Ka Jawab Vote Se’ and urge you to empower Kejriwal.”
As part of the campaign, Pathak announced that AAP leaders and workers will traverse the four Lok Sabha constituencies where the party has fielded candidates.
AAP Delhi convener Gopal Rai called upon the public to respond to “dictatorship” through their votes.
AAP Rajya Sabha MP Sanjay Singh, who was released on bail last week in the same case, encouraged voters to remember Kejriwal’s face when casting their ballots.
Kejriwal was apprehended by the Enforcement Directorate (ED) on March 21 in connection with a money laundering case linked to the now-defunct Delhi excise policy.
The AAP is participating in the Lok Sabha polls in alliance with the Congress.
The AAP has put forth candidates in four constituencies – New Delhi, East Delhi, South Delhi, and West Delhi. The Congress is contesting the remaining three seats.
