New Delhi, Apr 11 : BSP leader and Lok Sabha member Malook Nagar made headlines on Thursday as he officially joined the Rashtriya Lok Dal, under the leadership of Jayant Chaudhary.

Representing Bijnor in western Uttar Pradesh, Nagar’s decision to leave BSP marks a significant shift in his political allegiance. He declared his intention to actively support RLD candidates in the region, indicating a departure from his previous party affiliation.

Nagar had previously clinched victory in the 2019 Lok Sabha elections as a BSP candidate, in coalition with RLD and Samajwadi Party. However, his recent move to join RLD signifies a new chapter in his political journey.

In his statement, Nagar emphasized his commitment to working for the country, stating, “This is the first time in the last 39 years that I am neither contesting the election of MP nor MLA, but I want to work for the country, hence today I have decided to leave the BSP. This is a well thought out decision.”

Welcoming Nagar into the RLD fold, Chaudhary symbolically tied a green thread, signifying farmers and their connection to the fields, on his wrist. Chaudhary expressed confidence in Nagar’s ability to bolster RLD’s presence in western Uttar Pradesh and contribute to the strengthening of the NDA coalition in the region.

It’s worth noting that RLD is aligned with the BJP-led NDA coalition, and in the upcoming elections, the party has fielded Chandan Chauhan from Bijnor, following the seat-sharing arrangement with the BJP.
