New Delhi : At an election rally in Tripura’s Belonia, Congress leader and MLA Sudip Roy Barman launched a scathing attack on the BJP-led central government, labeling every slogan and commitment made by the BJP as false. He accused the party of failure across sectors and urged the people of Tripura to vote for the future of the state.
Barman dismissed the BJP’s slogan “Ab ki baar 400 paar” as a mere attempt to deceive the public, asserting that the party’s internal condition was weak and its top leaders were projecting expectations of only 200 seats.
Highlighting the significance of the upcoming election, Barman emphasized that it was not merely a contest between the INDIA alliance and the BJP but a battle against a fascist government and in defense of Indian democracy. He rallied support for the INDIA alliance, emphasizing the importance of safeguarding the constitution.
The rally, held in support of Congress candidate Ashish Saha for West Tripura and CPIM’s Rajendra Reang for East Tripura Lok Sabha parliamentary constituency, saw the presence of former Tripura CM Manik Sarkar and five-time MLA Sudip Roy Barman. Both leaders urged voters to support the INDIA bloc in the elections.
Saha echoed Barman’s sentiments, urging voters to prioritize the preservation of the country’s constitution over party affiliations. He underscored the need to uphold democratic values and emphasized the significance of voting to sustain a democratic environment.
Polling for the Lok Sabha in Tripura is scheduled in two phases, with West Tripura voting on April 19 and East Tripura on April 26. The counting of votes will take place on June 4. The Lok Sabha elections across the country will be conducted in seven phases, beginning April 19, with approximately 97 crore voters eligible to cast their ballots.
