New Delhi, April 18 : The commencement of the nomination process for the fourth phase of the Lok Sabha elections, scheduled for May 13, was announced on Thursday by the Election Commission. A notification to this effect was issued on behalf of the President, marking the initiation of the electoral procedure. This phase will witness voting across 96 constituencies spanning nine states and the union territory of Jammu and Kashmir. Both Andhra Pradesh (25 constituencies) and Telangana (17 constituencies) will participate in the electoral process during this phase, with simultaneous assembly elections scheduled in Andhra Pradesh. Furthermore, polling will occur in various Lok Sabha constituencies of Bihar, Jharkhand, Madhya Pradesh, Maharashtra, Odisha, Uttar Pradesh, West Bengal, and Jammu and Kashmir. In Srinagar, Jammu and Kashmir, District Magistrate Bilal Mohiuddin Bhat released the notification for the commencement of the nomination process. Candidates have until April 25 to file their nominations, with the scrutiny of papers scheduled for April 26. The deadline for the withdrawal of candidature is April 29, as announced by Bhat. Notably, the National Conference has nominated Shia leader Aga Ruhullah for the Srinagar Lok Sabha seat, while the PDP has put forward its youth wing president Waheed Para. Mohammad Ashraf Mir from the Apni Party is also contesting in this phase.
