New Delhi, Apr 18 : Ahead of the first phase of the Lok Sabha polls, Rahul Gandhi, the leader of the Congress party, emphasized to party workers the critical nature of the upcoming election. In a video message delivered in both Hindi and English, Gandhi underscored that this election is not ordinary; it is a battle to safeguard the Constitution and democracy. He urged Congress workers to inform the public about the BJP’s actions, which, according to him, undermine the essence of India.
Addressing the party members, Gandhi acknowledged their pivotal role, stating, “You are the backbone of our party.” He highlighted the ideological foundation of the Congress party within its workers and stressed the need to combat the BJP-RSS’s opposition to the Indian ethos.
Gandhi accused the BJP-RSS of assaulting various aspects of Indian democracy, including the Constitution and democratic institutions like the Election Commission. He called on Congress workers to stand against this ideology and defend the principles enshrined in the Constitution.
Asserting confidence in the Congress’s ability to prevail over the BJP and its ideology, Gandhi urged party workers to convey to the public that the BJP is endangering India’s essence and constitutional values.
Gandhi also lauded the Congress manifesto, titled ‘Nyay Patra’, which addresses critical issues such as women’s empowerment, farmers’ rights, job creation, and tax reform. He urged party workers to communicate these promises to the people, emphasizing that the manifesto was crafted based on public feedback.
Tagging Gandhi’s video message on social media, Congress general secretary Jairam Ramesh expressed enthusiasm about the upcoming election, stating that Congress workers nationwide are eager for change. He expressed confidence in the Modi government’s eventual departure and anticipated the counting of votes on June 4.
The Lok Sabha elections, spanning seven phases from April 19 to June 1, will culminate in the counting of votes on June 4.
