Srinagar, Apr 20: Following two days of heavy rainfall in Jammu and Kashmir, the weather cleared on Saturday, although light rain is expected in scattered areas over the next 24 hours, according to the local meteorological department. Additionally, there has been a decrease in night temperatures across most places, with temperatures recording below-normal levels.
A meteorological department official informed GNS that in the last 24 hours until 0830 hours this morning, various regions received varying amounts of rainfall. Srinagar received 18mm, Qazigund 30mm, Pahalgam 7mm, Kupwara 13mm, Kokernag 21mm, Gulmarg 15mm, Jammu 11mm, Banihal 40mm, Batote 29mm, Katra 14mm, and Bhaderwah 16mm.
The weather department has forecast light rain at scattered places for today. However, from April 21-25, generally dry weather is expected, although isolated afternoon thundershowers cannot be ruled out.
From April 26 to 27, generally cloudy weather with light rain and thunder has been predicted at many places.
Regarding temperatures, Srinagar recorded a minimum of 7.0°C, which is 0.9°C below normal. Qazigund recorded 7.0°C, Pahalgam 1.6°C, Kokernag 5.8°C, Kupwara 6.0°C, and Gulmarg 0.5°C.
Jammu recorded a minimum of 16.8°C, below normal by 3.4°C. Banihal recorded 6.4°C, Batote 8.4°C, and Bhaderwah 6.6°C.
