New Delhi, Apr 20 : Rahul Gandhi, a prominent figure in the Congress party, criticized Prime Minister Narendra Modi for his involvement in the electoral bonds system, accusing him of running a “school of corruption” where every aspect of corrupt practices is meticulously taught. Using the social media platform ‘X’, Gandhi shared a video of a new Congress advertisement targeting the BJP’s handling of electoral bonds. In a Hindi post, Gandhi stated, “Narendra Modi is overseeing a ‘school of corruption’ in our nation, where he meticulously instructs every chapter of the ‘entire corruption science’, including the ‘donation business’.” The former Congress leader alleged that Modi was providing detailed instructions on collecting donations through raids and distributing contracts after receiving donations. He further questioned, “How does the apparatus that launders corruption operate? How is the game of ‘bail and jail’ played by manipulating agencies into becoming recovery agents?” Mallikarjun Kharge, the President of the Congress party, echoed Gandhi’s sentiments by sharing the same advertisement on ‘X’ and urged people not to elect a government known for extortion but to opt for change by voting for the Congress. Gandhi asserted that the BJP, which he claimed has become a “haven for corrupt individuals”, has mandated this “crash course” for its leaders, ultimately leading to dire consequences for the nation. He emphasized that an INDIA bloc government would dismantle this ‘school of corruption’ and permanently put an end to such practices. In February, the Supreme Court invalidated the electoral bonds scheme through a landmark judgment. Following the apex court’s directive, the State Bank of India, the authorized seller of electoral bonds, disclosed data on electoral bonds, which was subsequently made public. The Congress has alleged that the data on electoral bonds has revealed “corrupt tactics” employed by the BJP, including quid pro quo arrangements and providing “protection” to companies in exchange for donations.
