New Delhi, Apr 23 : Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal received a “low dose” of insulin after experiencing a spike in his blood sugar level, as reported by officials of Tihar jail on Tuesday.

The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) welcomed this development, coinciding with Hanuman Jayanti, attributing it to the blessings of the deity. Delhi Cabinet Minister Atishi expressed her joy in a Hindi post on X, stating, “Jai Bajrang Bali! It’s auspicious news on Hanuman Jayanti. Finally, the Tihar administration provided insulin to Arvind Kejriwal ji. This is a result of the blessings of Hanuman ji and the relentless efforts of the people of Delhi. Even in challenging times, the divine blessings of Bajrang Bali remain with us.”

Meanwhile, Kejriwal’s cabinet colleague Saurabh Bharadwaj accused officials of deliberately withholding insulin from the Chief Minister. He questioned the sudden change in treatment, alleging political motives behind the delay. In a Hindi post on X, he said, “Today, it has become evident that the Chief Minister required insulin. However, officials under the BJP-led Centre intentionally delayed his treatment. Why administer insulin now if it wasn’t necessary before? The entire world is condemning them.”

According to a Tihar official, Kejriwal received two units of low-dose insulin on Monday evening, based on the advice of doctors from AIIMS. The decision came after his blood sugar level measured 217 around 7 pm, prompting doctors at Tihar to administer insulin. Specialists from AIIMS, in a video conference with the Chief Minister on April 20, had recommended insulin if his sugar levels surpassed a certain threshold.

Arvind Kejriwal has been in Tihar jail since April 1, following his arrest by the Enforcement Directorate (ED) in connection with a money-laundering case linked to the Delhi government’s former excise policy.
