Srinagar, January 17: Director General of Police (DGP) R R Swain revealed on Tuesday that approximately 6,000 security personnel have lost their lives in the line of duty in Jammu and Kashmir due to militancy-related incidents, with over 1,600 of them being from the J&K Police. Swain emphasized the commitment of the J&K Police to safeguarding the sovereignty and integrity of the country.
Speaking at the closing ceremony of the 12th martyrs’ memorial cricket tournament in Kathua, Swain paid tribute to the fallen heroes of the J&K Police by laying wreaths at the martyrs’ gallery. The DGP commended the managing committee and sponsors for the successful organization of the tournament and expressed gratitude to the people of Kathua for actively participating in honoring the martyrs.
During media interactions, Swain highlighted welfare schemes for the families of J&K Police martyrs, funded under the Police Contributory Fund. Additionally, ADGP Anand Jain mentioned that the J&K Police have been actively addressing issues and providing support to the families of martyrs through the ‘Sevara’ scheme.
