Jammu, Jan 17: Security has been intensified in Jammu in preparation for Republic Day and the upcoming consecration ceremony at the Ram temple in Ayodhya. Security forces and police are on high alert throughout the Jammu region, including the Indo-Pakistan border, to ensure robust security deployment.
“The security measures have been beefed up ahead of the Pran Pratishtha ceremony on January 22 and also the Republic Day celebrations. Security setup has been put on alert,” stated a senior officer. Security forces have increased checks and frisking of vehicles and pedestrians in various parts of the city and surrounding areas.
Jammu SSP Vinod Kumar led a review of security on the ground, examining checkpoints and nakas. Nakas and mobile vehicle checkpoints (MVCP) have been established at key intersections, entry and exit points, and roads leading to the capital city. Police and CRPF personnel have been deployed in crucial areas.
Several high-level meetings have taken place in the capital city and districts over the past week to assess security measures for these significant events. Additional DGP Anand Jain, on Monday, instructed intelligence agencies to gather intelligence in advance, ensuring the prevention of any anti-national or anti-social activities in the Jammu region.
“Proper coordination be maintained among all the intelligence agencies and security organizations in their respective areas of jurisdiction to foil the nefarious designs of anti-national elements and ensure smooth and incident-free conduct of national events,” emphasized the ADGP.
