Srinagar, February 6th: The cold wave sweeping in from the snow-clad mountains enveloped Kashmir on Tuesday, bringing with it freeze and frost that disrupted normal life activities. According to the Meteorological (MeT) Department, dry weather is expected to prevail until February 14th, accompanied by a further decrease in night temperatures in the coming days.
Minimum temperatures recorded were -2.5 degrees Celsius in Srinagar, -10.5 degrees Celsius in Gulmarg, and -11 degrees Celsius in Pahalgam. Meanwhile, Leh and Kargil in the Ladakh region experienced minimum temperatures of -13 degrees Celsius each.
In the Jammu region, the minimum temperature in Jammu city stood at 6 degrees Celsius, while Katra recorded 4.6 degrees Celsius. Batote saw temperatures drop to -0.3 degrees Celsius, while Bhaderwah and Banihal both experienced minimum temperatures of -1.8 degrees Celsius.
