Kishtwar: District Child Protection Unit Kishtwar under Mission Vatsalya, on Tuesday organized a one-day Sensitisation cum training Programme’ on the Implementation of Child rights and Juvenile Justice Act 2015, POCSO Act 2012, and Child Rights at the Multiple Purpose Hall Govt. Degree College Kishtwar.
Tehsil Social Welfare Officer Kishtwar, Sh. Rajesh Sharma begins his introductory speech on the structure of Mission Vatsalya.
Speaking at the event, District Social Welfare Officer/ District Child Protection Officer, Sh. Zubair Ahmed (JKAS) explained the importance of the programme and gave a detailed description of the topic and its working mechanism at the district level.
He said, that the aim of the programme was to raise awareness regarding Child Rights and ensure the proper implementation of the Juvenile Justice Act in the district.
Various stakeholders, including Members CWC, JJB and DCPU officials , Representatives from DLSA, Para legal, Former Sarpanchs, a local NGO, Traders, Media , Asha Workers, Anganwari workers attended the program.
The program was presided over by Honorable Chief Judicial Magistrate Kishtwar, Sh. Sh Mahmud Anwar Alnasir.
On the occasion, the resource persons including Former Chairman CWC Kishtwar and retired DYsp Sh. Mohan Lal Thakur , Chairperson Child Welfare Committee Kishtwar, Sh. Sheetal Nain , Special Juvenile Police Officer Kishtwar, Sh. Yudvir Sharma (JKPSI) and Adv. Anjali Gulati conducted sessions on Child Rights Mechanism, an overview of the Juvenile Justice Act 2015 and POCSO Act 2012, overview of adoption regulations 2022, and the role of SSA, behaviour of police personal towards Juveniles during and after as per the Juvenile Justice Act overview of Mission Vatsalya, protection of child from sexual offences among other topics.
The speakers also highlighted that under the Integrated Child Protection Scheme (ICPS), the department focuses on providing preventive, statutory, care, and rehabilitation services to vulnerable children, including those from potentially vulnerable families, families at risk, orphans, child drug abusers, child beggars, trafficked or sexually exploited childern.
The speakers also highlighted the Sponsership Scheme during the programme in which 4000 financial support is given to the Child in Need of care and protection on the recommendations of CWC and approval of District magistrate.
They also said that District Child Protection Unit , Child Welfare Committee (CWC), and Juvenile Justice Board (JJB), are actively working to ensure the implementation of child rights and juvenile justice acts, while also combating child labor and violations of related laws,” they added.
At the end, Honorable Chief Judicial Megistrate Kishtwar Sh Mahmud Anwar Alnasir enlightened the working of Legal System and religious perspective towards dealing with Care and Protection of vulnerable children. He further stated that this sensitization/training program is crucial in raising awareness and equipping stakeholders with the necessary knowledge and skills to effectively protect children.
