New Delhi, Mar 14: Delhi Police have filed an FIR against Tamil Nadu Minister T.M. Anbarasan for allegedly threatening Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

The controversy arose after a video purportedly showing the TN Minister threatening the Prime Minister went viral on Wednesday. Subsequently, a Supreme Court lawyer filed a complaint against the DMK minister, leading to the Delhi Police registering an FIR at the Parliament Street police station.

The FIR has been lodged under various sections of the Indian Penal Code (IPC), including 153, 268, 503, 505, and 506.

According to the FIR, during a public rally/procession, T.M. Anbarasan, a prominent political figure and minister in the Tamil Nadu Cabinet, made a speech openly threatening harm to the Prime Minister.

The FIR describes the threatening statement as alarming, posing a significant risk to the Prime Minister’s safety and security, and intentionally aimed at stirring unrest and inciting violence.

The complainant emphasized the seriousness of the situation, drawing attention to the assassination of former Prime Minister Rajiv Gandhi during the DMK’s tenure in Tamil Nadu and urged immediate legal action against those involved in sharing or endorsing the alleged video clip on social media and other platforms.
