New Delhi, March 22 : The Delhi High Court has granted admission to the CBI’s appeal challenging the acquittal of former telecom minister A Raja, firms, and others in the 2G spectrum allocation scam case.

Justice Dinesh Kumar Sharma, after reviewing the material on record and submissions from both sides, stated that a prima facie case had been established by the CBI, warranting further examination. The judge emphasized the need for a detailed hearing and scheduled the appeal for May.

The court’s decision on the “leave to appeal” has cleared the path for a thorough consideration of the appeal against the trial court’s verdict. The CBI filed the appeal in 2018, seeking a review of the acquittal.

“Leave to appeal” signifies formal permission granted by a court to challenge a decision in a higher court. The judge had previously reserved judgment on this matter on March 14.

The special court had acquitted Raja, DMK MP Kanimozhi, and others on December 21, 2017, in both the CBI and ED cases associated with the 2G scam.
