Srinagar, March 29: Jammu and Kashmir witnessed widespread rainfall, with Srinagar receiving the highest precipitation in the last 24 hours, leading to a drop in temperature across the region.
According to a meteorological department official, Srinagar recorded 25.2mm of rainfall till 0830 hours, followed by Banihal (20.4mm), Pahalgam (17.8mm), Gulmarg (17.6mm), Qazigund (13.0mm), Kokernag (11.0mm), Kupwara (8.9mm), Bhaderwah (8.6mm), Batote (4.8mm), Katra (3.6mm), and Jammu (1.7mm).
The official reported that the minimum night temperature in Srinagar was 8.2°C, down from 9.8°C the previous night, but still 2.1°C above normal for this time of year. Similarly, Qazigund recorded a minimum of 8.4°C, which was 3.7°C above normal, while Pahalgam recorded 5.0°C, maintaining its 3.4°C above-normal status.
Kokernag saw a minimum of 7.7°C, Kupwara recorded 7.3°C, and Gulmarg registered a low of 0.4°C, all showing variations from the previous night but generally above normal temperatures. Jammu recorded a minimum of 19.6°C, well above normal by 3.0°C.
The forecast indicates fairly widespread light to moderate rain, snow, or thunderstorms across Jammu and Kashmir over the next 24 hours. On March 31, partly to generally cloudy weather with intermittent light rain or snow is expected in a few places. Dry weather conditions are forecasted thereafter until April 5.
