Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal has been transferred to judicial custody until April 15 by Delhi’s Rouse Avenue Court on Monday, following the conclusion of his custody with the Enforcement Directorate (ED).
Kejriwal appeared before Special Judge Kaveri Baweja in a heavily guarded courtroom. Addressing reporters, the Delhi CM expressed concerns about the actions of the Prime Minister, stating that “what the PM is doing is not good for the country.”
In court, AAP ministers Atishi, Saurabh Bhardwaj, and Kejriwal’s wife, Sunita Kejriwal, were also present.
The ED had filed an application in the Rouse Avenue court, requesting that Kejriwal be remanded to judicial custody. Additional Solicitor General SV Raju, representing the ED, informed the court that further custodial interrogation was not required at the moment.
Kejriwal was initially arrested by the federal probe agency on March 21 in connection with the case. His custody with the ED was extended from March 28 to April 1.
According to the remand application submitted by the probe agency, Kejriwal is accused of being involved in the entire conspiracy related to the Delhi liquor scam. The application alleges his role in drafting and implementing the policy, favoring and benefiting from it, and receiving kickbacks. Furthermore, it claims that a portion of the proceeds of crime generated from the scheduled offense was used in the election campaign for the Goa Assembly elections.
