New Delhi, Apr 2 : Ajay Kumar Nishad, the incumbent BJP MP from Muzaffarpur, Bihar, officially joined the Congress on Tuesday, following the denial of a ticket by the saffron party.
Expressing his commitment to strengthening the Congress in Bihar, Nishad emphasized his primary objective of challenging the perceived “arrogance of someone” within the political landscape.
Feeling overlooked by his former party, Nishad lamented the lack of communication regarding his ticket’s cancellation, stating, “Even a person condemned to the gallows is given a final wish but I was not even told once before my ticket was cut.”
Nishad’s induction into the Congress took place at the AICC headquarters, with prominent party leaders including Bihar Congress president Akhilesh Prasad Singh, AICC in-charge of the state Mohan Prakash, MP from Kishanganj Mohammad Javed, and AICC head of media and publicity department Pawan Khera in attendance.
Expressing gratitude towards the Congress leadership, Nishad underscored the importance of the upcoming elections being determined by “janta ka bal” (people’s might) rather than “dhanbal” (money power).
The BJP had opted not to field Nishad for re-election, instead offering the Muzaffarpur ticket to Raj Bhushan Nishad.
