SRINAGAR, Apr 15 : Apni Party President Altaf Bukhari declared on Monday that his party would back political entities committed to restoring statehood to Jammu and Kashmir. The party has already announced candidates for the Srinagar and Anantnag Lok Sabha seats but has refrained from naming contenders for the remaining three seats, particularly in the Jammu region.
Bukhari emphasized that their support would be extended to those advocating truth and championing the reinstatement of statehood. He asserted, “We will support those who secure the restoration of Jammu and Kashmir’s statehood. Those who work towards the release of our youth, elders, and religious leaders from jails have our support.”
Addressing queries regarding the absence of candidates from the Jammu division in the upcoming parliamentary elections, Bukhari clarified that the party’s current focus is on contesting from the valley. He added, “In Jammu, the Apni Party is actively preparing for the forthcoming Assembly elections.”
Responding to allegations by National Conference Vice President Omar Abdullah suggesting a nexus between Bukhari and Peoples Conference Chairman Sajad Lone, Bukhari refuted any such affiliations. He stated, “My relations span across various political parties, including the National Conference, Peoples Democratic Party, Congress, BJP, Peoples Conference, and others. My doors are open to all.”
Bukhari also addressed Abdullah’s decision to contest from Baramulla instead of Srinagar, stating, “I respect Omar Sahib, but it is also true that he fled from Srinagar and is contesting from Baramulla.”
Highlighting the growing support for his party, Bukhari noted that individuals from all walks of life, including men, women, and youth, are joining Apni Party across the Kashmir valley.
