Ahmedabad, Apr 18: Union Home Minister Amit Shah commenced a vibrant roadshow on Thursday morning in Sanand town of Gujarat’s Gandhinagar Lok Sabha constituency, where he stands as the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) candidate. Shah, perched on a specially-designed vehicle, extended greetings to the throngs of people and BJP supporters who congregated along the route – from the APMC Chowk to Nalsarovar Chowk. Before the roadshow in Sanand, Shah expressed on X, “Today, I appeal to my brothers and sisters of Gandhinagar Lok Sabha Constituency to ensure BJP’s triumph and bestow their blessings upon Modi ji, enabling him to reclaim the Prime Ministership and elevate the country to top rank in every sector, while transforming Gandhinagar into one of the most developed Lok Sabha constituencies in the country.” The veteran BJP leader, vying for re-election from Gandhinagar Lok Sabha constituency for a second term, will officially file his nomination papers on Friday, as confirmed by state party spokesperson Yagnesh Dave. This marks one of three roadshows Shah will conduct in Gandhinagar Lok Sabha constituency during the day, before addressing a rally in Vejalpur area of Ahmedabad in the evening. Following the Sanand roadshow in Ahmedabad district, Shah will proceed to hold another in Kalol town of Gandhinagar district. Subsequently, a third roadshow is scheduled in Ahmedabad city, encompassing areas within Sabarmati, Ghatlodia, Naranpura, and Vejalpur assembly segments, all constituting part of the Gandhinagar Lok Sabha seat, which Shah secured in 2019 with a margin exceeding 5 lakh votes. The Gandhinagar Lok Sabha constituency comprises seven assembly segments — Gandhinagar North, Kalol, Sanand, Ghatlodia, Vejalpur, Naranpura, and Sabarmati. All these assembly seats are held by the BJP. Previously represented by BJP stalwart and former Deputy Prime Minister L K Advani, Shah clinched victory in Gandhinagar in 2019. For the upcoming election, the opposition Congress has nominated party secretary Sonal Patel as their candidate from Gandhinagar, who submitted her nomination papers on Tuesday. Voting across all 26 Lok Sabha seats in Gujarat is scheduled to occur in a single phase on May 7.
