New Delhi, Dec 23: The Patiala House Court in Delhi has granted a 13-day extension to the police custody of Mahesh Kumawat, the sixth accused in the Parliament security breach case. Special Judge Dr Hardeep Kaur approved the Delhi Police’s request for extended custody as part of their ongoing investigation.

During the court proceedings, the Special Public Prosecutor for Delhi Police, Akhand Pratap Singh, stated that a psychological test of the accused was underway, and further interrogation was necessary based on the psychology analysis report.

Mahesh Kumawat was presented before the special judge at the Patiala House Court after the completion of seven days of police custody on Saturday. He had been arrested in connection with the Parliament security breach incident on December 13.

In the previous court hearing, Delhi Police disclosed that the conspiracy behind the security breach had been in progress for over a year. Mahesh Kumawat had reportedly attended all the meetings held in various cities related to the conspiracy.

The public prosecutor informed the court that Mahesh had been in contact with other accused for the past two years and was an active participant in the conspiracy. Allegedly, he played a role in destroying a mobile phone and providing evidence to the prime accused and mastermind, Lalit Jha.

According to Delhi Police, Mahesh Kumawat, along with others, aimed to create anarchy in the country and compel the government to meet their perceived ‘unjust’ and ‘illegal’ demands.

Simultaneously, the Delhi Police’s Special Cell conducted psycho-analysis tests on all the accused in the case, including Lalit Jha and Mahesh Kumawat. The tests took place at a government institute in Rohini, Delhi. The Special Cell is also working on reactivating the destroyed SIM cards of the accused, believing it could reveal new leads in the case.
